Off-Grid Summerfestival 2026
Over deze activiteit
Cutting your chains – from consumer to producer
Off-grid living refers to a self-sufficient lifestyle where you disconnect (fully or partially) from the financial debt economy, from public utilities like the electrical grid, municipal water, sewer systems, and sometimes natural gas. People choose it for independence, lower environmental impact, cost savings over time, or a deeper connection to nature.
Off-grid living isn’t just a practical lifestyle choice—it often becomes a deeply spiritual one. When you remove constant connectivity, consumption, and noise, something quieter but more profound tends to emerge.
At its core, the spiritual side of off-grid living is about reconnection—to nature, to time, to your fellow humans and to your spiritual self.
In this summer festival ALM brings together remote workers, retirees, preppers, environmentalists and anyone seeking to increase their freedom from centralized systems.
It is possible to follow the whole week or attend only one day.

2. Small-and large scale production and enterprise
Enterprise
Humans are prone to be entrepreneurial. However, in societies with an extreme division of labor, basic human skills – and productive creativity – are often lost, resulting in a certain helplessness of the specialized individual. When his special skill becomes redundant, the modern educated individual is directed to a role of modest consumerism: Netflix and Chips.
At the same time, production of “sellable” goods is highly regularized, making enterprise a high-barrier undertaking for which special vehicles (companies) have to be set up. Individual patronage is highly unattractive and risky.
The man who has produced something by his own means realizes that the value of the product is of a completely different order than the products he buys from a retail shop. This kind of small-scale production belongs to an off-grid life.

4. Spirituality, psychology and Religion.
Living off-grid can mean that you’re more exposed to natural rhythms: sunrise, seasons, weather patterns. This can lead to a sense of reverence similar to what is found in traditions like Christianity, Buddhism or Taoism, where harmony among humans and the natural world is central.
Without constant digital input, your attention may shift. Everyday acts—chopping wood, collecting water, cooking—become grounding rituals. This aligns with ideas in monastic traditions or Zen Buddhism, where even mundane tasks can become meditative. You may experience a slower perception of time, increased mindfulness and greater appreciation of small things and moments.
With fewer distractions, you’re more likely to confront your thought patterns, your emotional habits and your sense of purpose. You may need to take care of your own weaknesses.
Interdependency: “off-grid” doesn’t mean independent—it reveals how dependent we actually are on land, weather, ecosystems and communities – on each other. This can foster humility and gratitude, echoing spiritual principles found in traditions that emphasize respect for ourselves, for others and for the divine spirit.
